About me
My name is Silvia Araoz. I was born in Lima, Peru. I am a single mom. My motivation in life is my son Lucas.
I came to Utah 5 years ago. I started my journey taking English as a Second Language at Salt Lake Community College. As a Hispanic single mom and nontraditional student, I faced extreme challenges to encounter and develop my passion. Now, I am deeply involved in my community, specially with immigrant people like me who wants and deserve support to become successful. I have developed skills related with immigration issues (Citizenship, DACA).
Salt Lake Community College give me the tools and support to share and develop my acquired knowledge through community services, presentations and leadership classes.
I want to show you that to be successful in life education must be paired with civic engagement to have great impact in your life and in the community. I have a long way to go, but I will not give up easily to pursue my goals.
